It’s so easy to get trapped into patterns. Patterns of behavior, patterns of relating to others, or seeing the world, can be just tolerable enough to assist us in going about our daily lives. Numbing out the pain, irritation or boredom - pushing it just out of sight as we get through our work days, or ignore the discomfort in our relationships - can become second nature. Sometimes we don’t even know what it is we’re distracting ourselves from. Other times it’s all too painfully obvious.
Grounded in a framework which combines Attachment Theory and Buddhism, I work with clients to begin tracking these patterns, the shape of the discomfort - how it manifests in the body, heart and mind as anxiety, anger, despair. Then we begin to uncover the stories and messages which are no longer serving, rewriting these stories, or just letting go through the process of a deepening practice.
